Senior Financial Services Officer/Manager

Seedco Financial Services (Seedco Financial) is a national nonprofit community development financial institution. Working with local partners, it provides financial resources to develop or rejuvenate low-income communities. This financial assistance usually takes the form of below market rate loans to community organizations and businesses in economically distressed communities. SFS is a spin off of Seedco, a national community development intermediary that creates opportunities for low-wage workers and their families. Seedco achieves its purposes by working with community partners to develop and operate programs that help people join the workforce, secure economic self-sufficiency, and promote asset building for residents of economically distressed communities. SFS supplies financial and technical assistance in ways that serve to complement Seedco\'s programs.

Seedco Financial is currently seeking a Manager to oversee its financial and technical assistant activities in New Orleans. The SF New Orleans office will implement an economic and community development project that will focus on small business lending and affordable housing, as well as supporting anchor development projects with NMTC and other creative financial instruments.

Responsibilities of this highly motivated individual will include in the Manager role: day-to-day management of the project; relationship management of government, community based organizations and private sector partners; and working with New York staff on strategic planning and resource development.

Responsibilities as a Senior Financial Services Officer will include working with the Vice President on managing a multi-million loan fund portfolio. Specific duties will include performing due diligence and underwriting; working with program staff on identifying potential loans to nonprofits and small businesses using an array of financing tools such as NMTC and program related investments; participating in presenting loan recommendations to credit committees including Seedco Financial\'s board of directors and maintaining contact with borrowers and trouble shooting problem loans.

Required Qualification/Skills

  • 3-5 years lending experience, 3+years of management experience (preferably in economic development
  • MBA or other relevant graduate degree
  • Experience working with small businesses and the nonprofit community
  • Experience in real estate or commercial financial transactions, a plus;
  • Strong ability to interpret financial statements
  • Good communication skills and ability to maintain multiple client relationships
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Must have strong computer skills, experience with a portfolio software, e.g. Nortridge, is a plus.
