A Message From K-12

Recently, the Recovery School District (RSD) in New Orleans asked K¹² to help them determine if there is genuine interest in having an RSD tuition-free, online public school for elementary and secondary students. K¹², in turn, has asked Anthony Patton, CEO of the W. Anthony Patton Agency in New Orleans, to lead this information - gathering effort.
This new public school, as conceived, would feature a flexible combination of face-to-face interaction and online learning. Students would spend a portion of their time in a learning center, meeting with a state-certified teacher and interacting with other students. They would spend the remainder of their time working online from home (or other location) under the guidance of a parent or other responsible adult, and with teacher support.
If launched, the new RSD online public school would be tuition-free. Students would receive the following at no cost:

* High-quality lessons in core subjects, delivered via the K¹² Online School
* A complete set of grade-appropriate materials to accompany lessons
* Support of professional, state-certified teachers
* Use of a computer
* Broadband access
* A community connection through school-sponsored group outings and more
