Grand Opening! Canal Street Welcomes
1201 Canal Condos in Former Krauss Building

Development company KFK Group will celebrate the grand opening of 1201 Canal Condominiums in high style this evening. For 94 years, the 1201 Canal building was home to Krauss Department Store, once the largest department store in the South. Today, the historic address has been transformed through extensive redevelopment to an upscale community of 233 luxury residences and over 25,000 square feet of available street-front retail.

DDD "Streetcar Named Inspire" Installed at Basin and Canal

The DDD-sponsored "Streetcar Named Inspire" was installed this morning at the corner of Basin and Canal Streets, right next to the Young Leadership Council's own streetcar. The location and adjacency of the two streetcars is symbolic of the partnership between the two organizations and their dedication to creating an open-air arts and entertainment pavillion at the site with money raised from the "Streetcar Named Inspire" program.

More than 40 of the decorative streetcar replicas have already been placed throughout the city.
