The models of First Friday’s: “Fashion Fest 2007” gained opportunities to be interviewed so that the NewOrleansBlack.com audience could get to know them a little better. Next up is Joy.

How long have you been modeling?
I‘ve been modeling for two years now. The “Fashion Fest 2007” is my third show.

Have you ever wanted to model while growing up?
No. Growing up, I always wanted to act, and I still do. The modeling came from family and friend’s encouragement.

So, how did you get involved with the First Fridays: Fashion Fest show?
I heard about the audition by word of mouth. I was in a previous fashion show with NewOrleansBlack.com, so I thought why not try out again.

How do you feel about your modeling now?
I love it, maybe not as much as acting, but it’s still fun. Besides, I can kind of act on the runway by unleashing a different character. It’s almost like a rush of adrenaline.

What are your aspirations for the future?
I want to be an actress full out. I love acting. That’s all I want.

I have two favorite quotes.

“The Lord will never give you anything you can’t handle.”
I believe everything that I go through is for a reason. So no matter what the situation, everything that happens to me is to make me a better person.
