SUNO partners with area churches for health fairs next two weekends

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Southern University at New Orleans’ HUD
Universities Rebuilding America Partnerships Project (SUNO-URAP) will
partner with Abundant Life Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1701 Franklin
Avenue in New Orleans, to host a Community Health Fair on Saturday,
November 3, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Abundant Life will offer diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure
checks as well as dental screenings. There will also be a space walk
available for children!

In addition Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6154 Press Drive, will host
their Health Fair as a part of the SUNO-URAP series on November 10, 2007
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Abundant Life and Holy Cross are two of four churches partnering with
SUNO-URAP to form a university faith based initiative in an effort to
undertake community projects within the neighborhoods of the churches.
The other members of the initiative are New Light Baptist Church and
Hartzell United Methodist Church. Hartzell hosted a Health Fair on
October 3, 2007.
