With themes ranging from sports to special agents, churches across the West Bank are getting the crafts and cookies ready for vacation Bible schools. The following is a list of summer programs submitted by the sponsoring churches:

ALGIERS

Algiers United Methodist

Algiers United Methodist Church, 637 Opelousas Ave., will hold its program July 16 to 20 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. This year's theme is "Soaring to New Heights with God." For more information, call (504) 361-1334.

Aurora United Methodist

Aurora United Methodist Church, 3101 Eton St., will hold its program June 18 to 22. This year's theme is "Avalanche Ranch," where the kids go on a wild ride through God's Word. For more information, call (504) 394-5483.

Berean Bible Church

Berean Bible Church will hold its program July 16 to 20 for kids ages 4 to 12. This year's theme is "Take the Plunge, Make a Splash with Jesus." Kids will learn the truths that Jesus taught, while using the image or picture of water. Sign up in the church office or by phone. For more information, call (504) 362-3254.

Calvary Baptist

Calvary Baptist Church, Gen. de Gaulle Drive, will hold its program June 18 to 22 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. This year's theme is "Game Day," a sports theme "where heroes are made." Kids learn how to become heroes on and off the field by focusing on Jesus and following God's plan for their lives. For more information, call (504) 367-6464.

Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Church, 6201 Stanford Place, will hold its program July 16 to 20. This year's theme is "Galilee by the Sea," a Holy Land Adventure. For more information, call (504) 394-5492.

Oak Park Baptist

Oak Park Baptist Church, 1110 Kabel Drive, will hold its program June 25 to 29. This year's theme is "Game Day." For more information, call (504) 392-1818. Activities will include Bible stories, crafts, games and refreshments. Children age 4 through sixth grade are invited to attend from 9 a.m. to noon. There is no charge.

Trinity Lutheran

Trinity Lutheran Church, 620 Eliza St., Algiers Point, will hold vacation Bible school July 23 through 27 from 5:15 to 8 nightly. The theme is "SonForce Kids!"

Activities include singing, watching skits, crafts, playing games and learning "how to have courage as God's special agents."

Woodland Presbyterian

Woodland Presbyterian Church, corner of Woodland and Berkley drives, will hold its program June 4 through 8. This year's theme is "SonForceKids," where each child becomes a special agent on a mission for God. Registration is open to children entering first through fifth grades. First Baptist

First Baptist of Belle Chasse, 8828 Louisiana 23, will hold vacation Bible school the week of July 9 through 13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The program is free for ages 3 by Sept. 1, 2006 through those who have completed sixth grade. The theme is "Game Central," which is a sports theme. Call (504) 394-1707 for more information.


Belle Chasse United Methodist Church

Belle Chasse United Methodist Church, 8375 Louisiana 23, Belle Chasse, will hold vacation Bible school July 15 to 19 from 6 to 8 nightly. Call church secretary Marsha Fisher at (504) 394-1976 for more information. The Rev. Jeff Duke is pastor.

The theme is "Lift Off! Soaring to New Heights with God!"

CROWN POINT

St. Pius X

St. Pius X will have vacation Bible school June 25 to 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. It will be for children in preschool through fifth grade. There will be games, crafts, music, drama and snacks. GRETNA

Gretna Presbyterian

Gretna Presbyterian Church, 101 11th St., will hold vacation Bible school July 30 through Aug. 3, 9 a.m. to noon daily. The theme is "Game Day Central, Where Heroes are Made." VBS is for age 3 to those completing fifth grade. Cost is $8 per child. Family plans apply. Closing program is Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. Call (504) 366-6831 for more information.

Gretna United Methodist

Gretna United Methodist Church will hold its vacation Bible school July 16-20, from 6:30 to 8:30 nightly at 1309 Whitney Ave. for children ages 3 to 12. This year's theme is "Avalanche Ranch: A Wild Ride Through God's Word!"

Activities include crafts, team-building games, lively Bible songs and tasty treats and will help faith grow into real life. Kids will choose a "Daily Challenge" -- an exciting way to live out what they've learned. Call the church office at (504) 366-6685, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday, to register your child. If you register on or before June 15, your children will get a free VBS T-shirt.

MARRERO

St. Joseph

St. Joseph Baptist Church, 241 Robinson Ave. Marrero, will hold vacation Bible school July 9 through 13 from 4:30 to 6:45 nightly.

The theme is "Take the Plunge! Make a Splash with Jesus!" VBS is for ages 1 year through adult. There is no cost. The closing program will be July 13 at 5:30 p.m.

St. Mary Missionary

St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 6223 Sixth Ave., Marrero, will host its vacation Bible school July 9 through 13 from 5 to 7 nightly. The theme for this year is "Take the Plunge: Make a Splash with Jesus." All ages are welcome. There will be activities such as Bible study, arts and crafts and class performances.

First Baptist Church

Vacation Bible school will be held at First Baptist Church, 4001 Seventh Street, June 11 through 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme is "Game Day Central: Where Heroes Are Made." The program is for kindergarten through sixth grade and is free.
