October 03, 2007. Usher and Tameka Foster have been going everywhere acting as man and wife. But what they may not realize is that, under current Georgia law, the two may not be officially married after all. You see, MediaTakeOut.com uncovered the couple's marriage certificate - and it contains an error that may invalidate Usher and Tameka's marriage.

In a MediaTakeOut.com exclusive report, we managed to get our hands on Usher and Tameka Foster's official marriage license. And when we looked at it, we were shocked!! It turns out that the certificate, shown below, mistakenly lists the officiant of the marriage as "Min. Penny Brown Reynold" and not "Penny Brown Reynolds". Brown-Reynolds, who is also a judge in Atlanta's Fulton County, performed the official marriage ceremony.

But that's not all. MediaTakeOut.com contacted a clerk from Atlanta's Fulton County Probate Court to gauge their opinion on the matter. When asked what the impact of the error on the certificate would be on Usher's marriage, the clerk responded, "If [Usher and Tameka] were married by a minister named 'Penny Brown Reynolds', and not 'Penny Brown Reynold,' this [error] probably invalidates the marriage ... I would suggest that they have the certificate changed immediately."

And if you think that a mistake on a marriage certificate couldn't possibly invalidate a marriage, think again. Just a few days ago, Detroit's The Macomb Daily reported that a Michigan couple learned that, because the minister signed the wrong line of the marriage license, they weren't legally married.

The would-be bride, Diana Lynn Hickson, was supposed to fix the error - but for years she procrastinated. When the marriage hit a rocky point, the would-be groom, Eugene J. Mandziuk, got an idea. Instead of filing for divorce and paying spousal support, Mandziuk walked out on his would-be-wife of almost 2 years - and sued her for nearly $50,000 - the cost of a diamond wedding ring, and various gifts he gave Hickson over the course of their "marriage." Right now the case is pending in a Michigan court.
