'Me time' matters. Just ask Mya. Her new album, "Liberation," is proof that the sexy siren is at a new place in her life.

The album was previously called, Control Freak. But it had a negative sound to it, so one day I was in the office with A&R, and he asked me how I was feeling. I said, “Liberated.” That’s how it came about. So, we went with Liberation.

I had put all my grudges aside, put pride and my ego aside. I’m at a wonderful, peaceful place right now. I have a clean slate. It’s a new beginning.

I’m very happy about my project. It’s a well-balanced album. I’m singing on this album. I’ve never had a single where I’m singing. It’s definitely personal. Definitely not a safe album…. In the past I played it safe. Not anymore. There’s a bit of hip hop, rock, R&B, pop, but it’s consistent from top to bottom.
